The big CEO SleepOut took place in Johannesburg last week, where 250 CEOs participated – raising close to R25 million. “I’m so privileged to have been selected to represent CQS and all our staff in this noble cause,” says  Philip Tillman, Managing Director at CQS GRC Solutions. “Although we contribute to a number of education and development programmes locally, we felt drawn to this unique global campaign as it aligns so closely to our brand value and it’s something we could physically participate in.”

And while sleeping under the stars for one night was not in any respect close to what the homeless face each and every day, it was certainly a humbling experience. And, while the SleepOut was very much staged – it gave him and fellow participating colleagues, some perspective.

Tillman continues: “And of course, we cannot forget why we did it – to help fight homelessness so that those in Girls and Boys Town are given a chance to believe and are able to realise their potential to mature and develop in society.”

Education, especially in the accounting field, is really important at CQS and for this reason the company will continue to work with various organisations (i.e. Thuthuka Bursary Fund, Afrika Tikkun and WOT-if Trust) to equip youth and young adults with not only monetary support, but with the necessary skills to address the current gap in the market.

The CEO SleepOut certainly had a profound impact on all who participated to bring hope and a home to South Africa’s most vulnerable children. “And from this we can only work together to ensure that big things will happen. I thank all CQS colleagues for their support and encouragement in the lead up to the event, it clearly proved to be a cause that held great significance across the board,” concludes Tillman.
